SAP extends LE-WM usage for existing customers

At the end of June, SAP published a blog article in which it announced that existing customers would be able to use LE-WM under S/4HANA beyond 2025.

This is quite surprising, since it has been generally assumed so far that all functionalities from 2025 onwards will no longer be allowed to be used without exception and that the transition to EWM will therefore be unavoidable up to this point.

The so-called "S/4HANA Stock Room Management" is intended for companies that, from today's point of view, have no added value from switching to Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). However, Stock Room Management is not identical to the previous warehouse management by LE-WM; whether the required functions are available must be checked in each case. Furthermore, there will be no further development after 2025. EWM is and remains the key "strategic product" for SAP under S/4HANA.

Before switching to S/4HANA and EWM - because no one will be able to avoid this in the long term - every company has to precisely analyse its own processes and plan and design the migration accordingly.
